NordicTrack FS7i : 3-in-1 training
You might be wondering how a single fitness machine can be used for 3 different exercises. Well, a lot of it boils down to the 38″ stride length which is self-adjustable as you train. By holding the handlebars in place and moving your feet up and down you get a step workout. To cross train, move your arms forward and back and work your legs around as you would on a cross trainer. And then really stride out and pump your arms harder to get into the motion of running.
It’s really easy to switch between activites and that makes for extremely fluid motion that is very low impact on your body. The key to the whole machine is that it’s you the user who determines the motion. The pedals are not fixed into a pre-set position or cycle that you have to follow, but rather it’s you and your movement that dictates the exercise motion. There is nothing to be altered on the machine, no buttons or settings to change, it all comes from your legs. We get why it’s called “FreeStride”!
This sets this machine apart from basically all other cross trainers that have a certain stride that cannot be altered, and even from machines with inclines or “power ramps” which offer some variety but still a determined workout motion pattern.
Biomechanically correct workouts
Not only does it give you full control over your motion, it also means that the trainer is ideal for multiple users in the same house. Imagine there’s a big height difference between you and your partner. With the FS7i neither of you need to compromise on workout comfort, either by having a stride that’s too long or too short, since you can both work out with strides to suit your body.
Furthering the comfort is the whole design of the machine which puts the main mechanics at the side, not at the front or rear like most cross trainers. The result is that the pedals are closer together (called a low Q factor) which in turn means your stride is more comfortable and biomechanically correct.
What’s more, the machine itself has quite a small footprint and the fact that it combines 3 workouts that usually require 3 separate machines into a single trainer makes it very appealing for anyone looking to exercise at home!
Resistance & Incline
You’ll find 24 levels of Silent™ Magnetic Resistance to provide the intensity and challenge for your sessions. With controls for resistance on the handles, you can seamlessly alter the level without taking your hands off the handlebars and distrupting your workout rhythm. Couple this with the 10 incline levels and you’ll be working up a sweat in no time! The incline function allows you to target muscle groups differently and deeper. It will also work you harder and help burn off calories quicker.
To top it all off, the NordicTrack FS7i has a web-enabled colour touchscreen, loads of exercise programs and is also iFit compatible. Perform your workout around the world using Google Maps™, following your progress on the 7″ screen and enjoying a number of other great interactive features and functions.
